Metal Gear Solid on Steam

I’ve started to play some games again, that I liked a lot. Playing MGS1 again leaves us with one clever trick and should I say issue. The develepors had integrated some dynamic content, meaning that you for instance need to switch the controller ports on the physical PlayStation system, or in the menu, in the Steam version.

What is a bit more tricky, is to get a picture of the back of the PlayStation CD case. Why would you need to look at the CD case? Well, there are a few prompts to look at the back of the “disc” in the game. Now in the game, selecting a disc that you may posses does not help.

You would need to pick up the physical case and turn it around. And there would be the clue! Oh what a clever way of integrating the physical packaging into the game.

Select the below text, to reveal the game spoiler. As you may not have the physical disc anymore.

Meryl’s codec frequency is: 140.15

P.S. MGS1 is running well on Proton, MSG2 has got some audio issues and may sometimes freeze in FHD/4K mode. But so far, the experience with a PS5 controller is pretty good. For MGS1 I prefer to play with the widescreen option and the scanline emulation.
